Course overview
The Hydroponic Production short course introduces learners to growing plants without soil by supplying nutrients through water or another growing medium. Learners explore the main components of a hydroponic system and the requirements for selecting a suitable production site. The course covers water quality, nutrient solutions, pH and electrical conductivity monitoring, and the importance of maintaining suitable growing conditions. Learners are introduced to crop selection, planting, transplanting and routine system management. The course also addresses common production challenges, hygiene, pest and disease prevention, and harvesting practices. By the end of the course, learners should understand the basic principles required to establish and manage a small-scale hydroponic production system.
